14380: Sanba: Re:14357: Lyall on fuel prices (fwd)
From: sanba@juno.com
When David proclaims that the fuel price situation was strange and
inappropriate for a country in hayti's situation, we may agree or disagree. What is doubtful is his concept of remnant of Duvalierism in subsidizing gazolin to keep transportation affordable to the majority of peasants, workers and job-hunters. This begs for clarification.
Specifically it woulde be beneficial to know in what subsidizing gazolin in Haiti is wrong compared to subsidizing the airline industry as a whole, an international policy?
By the way talking of more taxes, it would be appropriate also to specify how this tax hiking should be applied. In particular what sector to target.
