As for the "paid" protestors slam... why on earth anyone would give so much
creedence to an article appearing on the biased Boulos/Republican think
tank's website, namely the so-called Haiti Democracy Project, which uses as
its source an "anonymous" journalist, is beyond me. The same goes for the
Z-Net article by Clara James who no one has apparently ever heard of or read
any other piece published by this mystery woman. Several inquiries later, it
is clear it is a "nom de plume" used by yet another "anonymous" source in
yet another virulent anti-Lavalas hit piece. The only thing that hints at
Clara's identity is the credit for the photos that accompany it. "Da Mo" as
the photo credit makes it pretty clear to me from which quarter it
originates.
Earlier on the list someone accused me of being an "abuser of the press."
When reading this barrage of propaganda all I can reply is that accusing me
of such is like claiming David had an unfair advantage over Goliath because
he had a slingshot!
Paying people to protest might even be a very common system... French
>Republic began doing so: The 1790 July the 14th "Fete de la Convention"
>that
>France celebrates every year (and not the overtaking of the Bastille Prison
>as commonly believed) is recorded like a success with an important
>unanimous
>crowd attending the celebration... Only in 1989 for the the Revolution
>second century did the scholars discover archives proving that the crowd
>was
>paid to attend this spontaneous popular celebration of freedom and Reason
>Goddess, and national unity... If I am not wrong, we could easily imagine
>that a neutral citizen or a tourist, or an Englishman passing by Paris this
>day of July in 1790 would have felt kind of the same way anyone can feel in
>Port-au-Prince those days when "The People" demonstrates in the streets
>and
>"ap kenbe beton".
