organizations—most often grassroots NGOs that offer a variety of development
services to their communities.

New York City in the last week of May or first week of June. The terms of
reference for each internship are set forth in an agreement signed by the
Intern and Trickle Up. The deliverables include timely submission of an
analytical report on the field visit, together with recommendations to TUP.
Interns are also asked to make a presentation of their findings, including
slide viewings, at the Trickle Up office.

Greetings to you all:

We want to tell you that its the "buzz" in every tap-tap, the whisper among
friends at every restaurant and it's on the lips of everyone everywhere.

Reminds us of our Cuban friends. Rather than state the cause of a particular
event everyone rubs their chin like they are stroking their beard the
message being conveyed without being said but everyone knows they are
speaking of: El Presidente....

We wonder what semiotic carrier Haitians will begin to employ so that they
will be able to express their displeasure without being attacked.
Perhaps those who aren't entirely happy but are terrified of speaking out
will simply rub their eyes and state that "ze'm fe mal.."

As well, we thought we should tell you that it should be stated for the
record that being beaten about the belly is a secondary action to being
shot. Repeatedly. At close range.

But at least we can say with confidence that we see no evidence of a
narco-state in operation in our beautiful Haiti.

We're blind, by the way.

depi en Kongo
