I would be very grateful to John Holstead if he would tell me where it is
that Dina Paul Parks asserts that the Aristide government is "worse or as
bad as Duvalier ever was." Although it is of course true that human rights
violations, political violence, assassinations and impunity were much
worse under Papa Doc forty years ago than they are under the present
regime, I doubt that this is something most people in Haiti today can take
a lot of comfort in.
