I know that I erred wildly in saying it was 30, and not 20, years ago, but I
am quite sure that Pope John Paul II's visit was in 1983, and not 1984.  I
have before me four sources that concur on that fact: le Nouvelliste, the
Miami Herald, Anne Greene's book THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IN HAITI, and a
collection of the Pope's speeches in Latin America in Spanish.  What I really
need to get my hands on is the exact version as spoken in French in
Port-au-Prince, as well as his words at the Cathedral and in Bel Air on the
same day, March 9, 1983.

Any help would be appreciated.
