24-hour Haitian channel goes on air
BY JACQUELINE CHARLES AND DAPHNE DURET

South Florida's Haitian community will be able to turn on cable television
and get news directly from Haiti or see their favorite Haitian soccer
players battle their opponents.
At 8:15 p.m. Friday, the Haitian Television Network of America (HTN)
officially went on the air as a 24-hour channel offering French- and
Creole-language programming to Comcast customers who live in Miami-Dade and
Broward counties.
The brainchild of Claude Mancuso, HTN is looking to do for Haitian
television what Radio Carnivale WRHB-AM (1020) did for Haitian radio when it
launched nearly three years ago: Revolutionize information gathering in
South Florida's Haitian community by giving the audience 24 hours' worth of
news and programming in their own language.
