Four Haitians dead, others missing after boat capsizes

At least four Haitians died and dozens were missing late Tuesday after their
overloaded wooden boat broke apart and sank on a reef off the Dominican
Republic.
The Miami-bound boat, which left several days ago from Haiti's northwest
coast, had veered off course and drifted east.
A Dominican commercial fisherman first heard the Haitian boat's calls for
help Monday about 9 p.m. and radioed authorities, Petty Officer Ryan Doss,
of the U.S. Coast Guard's Miami station, said.
The Dominican navy continued to search for the missing late Tuesday, some of
whom may have swum to shore, said spokesman Felipe Montero.
