15566: Saint-Vil re: identity of American Pastor Arrested in Haiti fwd) (fwd)
From: Jean Saint-Vil <jafrikayiti@hotmail.com>
Can someone please confirm the name and provide any detail about of the
American Pastor arrested in Haiti this past week-end for illegal possession
of heavy arms?
CNN and AP referred to a certain James White Glenn, Radyo Ginen refers to a
James White Clean.
In view of the signs we have had in 1998 at Bwa Kayiman and some of the
dangerous rhetoric many protestant sects have been using for many years now.
And, in view of the recent officialisation of Vodou , is there confidence
that this is an isolated case and not part of a build up towards "People's
Temple" or "Davidian Wako" kind of violence?
We can read on the websites of many of these folks that they consider
themselves to be waging "war" against Satan in Haiti. For instance, on this
particular website for the Heart of God Ministries, led coincidentally by a
Pastor James Glynn, they speak of "army of children" and of detailed
strategies to gradually get a host of pastors to gang up and fight the
"demons" who control various cities in Haiti.
“we are called to be His servants as He comes to re-claim a nation that has
been in the hands of Satan for over two hundred years.”
etc...
See: http://www.hgm.org/meetpastor.htm
I hope the Haitian Government is taking all this as seriously as it requires
to be taken.
See also this exceprt which illustrates the fact that these "pastors" are
not always free agents but, sometimes, well-paid consultants, "Haiti
experts" if you will, who are working for "the cause".

salvaged the thugs
by Marshall Valentine
“To ensure that we had a reliable source for this one and only predeployment
brief, our intelligence gurus selected an expatriate, white, American,
fundamentalist Protestant preacher. This gentleman had occupied himself for
the last 11 years, in a small community outside of Cap Haïtien, salvaging
the heathen souls of some 300 local congregants. He was an emaciated,
blepharitic man, tall and thin, in a black suit, reeking of Calvinist
austerity and burning with years of besieged righteousness.
With complete seriousness, our intrepid young missionary, explained that
Satan himself, disguised as a voodoo deity, contracted with Dessalines to
assure him a military victory. In exchange for the victory, Satan was to be
given control of the new nation for a period of 200 years.
I'm not sure what surprised me the most at that briefing. The outlandish
characterization of the first independent black nation in the Western
Hemisphere? The fact that an Intelligence Officer on the Group staff had
coordinated for his presence? Or the spellbound attention being paid this
crackpot by hundreds of allegedly rational grown men who were in the room
listening?
The problem was this. Most of the Special Forces soldiers there had no
previous interest in Haiti. Most of them harbored cultural and racial
preconceptions of Haiti. All had been exposed to the drumbeat of skewed
media coverage of Haiti. Many were fans of both the CIA and Jesse Helms,
both of whom were staging a concerted venture to shape foreign policy on
behalf of the Cedras regime, by fabricating rumors about Aristide…
The briefing was only partly inexplicable to me. Many of the mindless
prejudices of the briefing would resurface later as official documents, from
Intelligence, Psychological Operations, and Civil Affairs. It was part of
the attempt to minimize American contact with Haitian realities. It is going
on to this day, and it is effective.
Now, the bullshit is being disseminated by the United States Embassy…”
