U.S. policy on Haiti discussed
Miami-Dade Community College and the Haitian-American Grassroots Coalition
will present a symposium on U.S. policy on Haitian immigration, at 6 p.m.
Thursday, May 29, at the MDCC Wolfson Campus, 300 NE Second Ave., Building
1, Auditorium. Admission is free and open to the public.
Among the panelists participating in the discussion are Congressman Kendrick
Meek (D- Fla.), Cheryl Little of the Florida Immigrant Advocacy Center,
professor Jean-Claude Exulien, Hans Otinot of the Haitian-Lawyers
Association, attorney Randy McGrorty of Catholic Charities, Marleine Bastien
of Haitian Women of Miami and HAGC, and representatives from the Department
of Homeland Security, the Justice Department and State Department.
Jean-Robert Lafortune of the Haitian-American Grassroots Coalition and
Gepsie M. Metellus of the Sant La Haitian Neighborhood Center and HAGC will
moderate.
