15776: Saint-Vil: Thanks to the few courageous ones who do truly stand by Haiti (fwd)
From: Jean Saint-Vil <jafrikayiti@hotmail.com>
This evening I just finished watching the film titled "The Clarence Brandley
Story" , when I read the news that the OAS/ U.S./ European block has managed to
force the resignation of Haiti's Police Chief who was duly and constitutionaly
named by the President of that nation.
Clarence Brandley is a African man in America, like thousands of others, who
was put on death row in Texas because the white supremacist injustice system of
that state prefers to sacrifice any African life, anytime, rather than muster
the courage to face its ugly self in the mirror and assume its responsibility
to change - from a 20th century KKK system to a truly modern 21st century
JUSTICE system. Yet, 5 days before the final lethal injection was administered
to yet another innocent African man in America, the courage and basic human
decency of a few good men and women (black and white) triumphed over the all
powerful web of coward white supremacist Rangers, Judges, Lawyers, Police
Investigators, Politicians... who all conspired to legally assassinate Clarence
Brandley.
Am I the only one to see the stricking similarity between Haiti's situation and
that of Clarence Brandley?
In the ocean of complascent "citizens of the world" who stand idle watching
a whole nation being stripped of entire years of her life, and totally of her
sovereignty...how many dare stand to denounce the powerful Jesse Helms, Roger
Noriega and George W. Bushes of this world? How many Paul Farmer, Kevin Pina,
Danny Glover, TransAfrica Forum, Haiti Reborn, Haiti Action Committees will
stay the course as the slow execution of Haiti and her African people takes
place before our very eyes? Will they manage to win her a stay of execution?
Sure, it is entertaining to read the sick diatribes of one Olivier Nadal on the
Corbett list. But, let it not be forgotten, that while we may sometimes laugh
at his Apartheid-era relics, there are a whole slew of sick people in Haiti who
actually believe that it is their God-given right to bleed the 8
million Africans living in Haiti, sucking all the strength their body can
produce, and that of their children and their children's children, for as long
as they can get away with it. They have financed bloody coup after bloody coup
- just to preserve that "right". And, of course, many on this list will
continue to pretend not to know that for a fact. It matters not how many Toto
Constant's living in their neiborhood have testified to 60 Minutes, how many
detailed reports of CIA agents attacking the Haitian National Palace or
Peligre's Power Plant, or even if Haiti's too black and still too popular
president was to be murdered in broad day light....it simply would not matter.
Just like no one in that red-neck town in Texas knew for a fact what they were
all condoning while the clock kept ticking towards the hour of Clarence
Brandleys collective - very clean indeed - planned legal assassination.
Today the OAS has decided and proven that the Haitian President has no
authority to name a police chief in his own country. Tomorrow, they will
announce that for "demokkkacy" to set in that country, it must have a Prime
Minister who is from the opposition, preferably one of the handsome young boys
from the Group of 184 they have been going out of their way to promote lately.
We have already seen the examples of Côte d'Ivoire and Palestine. Forget about
elections by the people. IRI knows best what "faces" are more qualified to
"represent haiti". And, when the day after tomorrow, Haiti will be again put on
the list of poorest countries of the world where the political players cannot
get along, the OAS, the USAID, Canada and its David Lee, France and its own
agents, and all the host of them lab technicians toying around with the lives
of 10 million black people, will put on a straight face, a surprise face, a "go
figure" face similar to those that looked Clarence Brandley's family members
all around Conroe County, Texas. Like those faces looking at the carbnage going
on today in Patrice lumumba's Congo. Like those Stephen Lewis, UN envoy for
Aids in Africa must have been disgusted to see so many times in his offices.
Like those faces that were smiling to camera at Evian, France the other day,
discussing what type of "knee pad" to place under the wretched ones of "their"
earth.
No, these morally-banckcrupt folks have no credibility on which to stand to
criticize, let alone lecture our people. The current Haitian government may not
have the necessary strength to survive all their coniving. From
Canberra, Ottawa, Paris or Washington (playing it like a relay match), they
will continue to post outrageously false warnings about foreigners risking
being attacked in Haiti, but you and I know full well that Haiti is the one
that has been, is and will be for a long time still systematically ATTACKED by
a certain type of foreigners. The same type that never mustered the courage to
look itself in the mirror in Conroe County.
Stephen Lewis, one of these rare specimen of courage and human decency,
currently serving as UN Special Envoy for HIV/AIDS in Africa, was addressing
the Global Health Council's Annual Conference in Washington this past
Wednesday, May 28, 2003 when he said:
“We know what we're doing, and we do it anyway. It's as though we have chosen
to pursue and protect our own prosperity and comfort at all costs, and then
have dehumanized Africa so that we can live with ourselves. It's as though the
communities, families, women, children, orphans are figments, illusions,
abstractions. We're not barbarians; we don't choose willfully to kill and to
maim. But in watching and neglecting and allowing and, incredibly enough,
abetting the cumulative loss of life in Africa, which we know we could bring to
an end, we have become the latterday King Leopolds of the continent.”
Would this quote still sound so powerfully true, if you replaced Africa by
Haiti, King Leopold by Rochambeau and the word continent by island?
