15811: Magloire: Re: 15805 Elysee: School to be taught in French

Though I do respect everyone's opinion on this issue, I am still annoy by
the
fact that people who have so far addressed the issue on this forum are
just
distorting the facts. Choosing to teach French to students rather than
creole,
has nothing to do with "promoting the language of the colon", it is about
learning one of the most beautiful international languages. It's about
helping
our kids to be more competitive in today's world. I am pretty sure that
most of
those people who are against this policy already know French. Whcich
Haitian
parent wouldn't like to see their children be fluent in another language?
Especially French? Almost every Haitian speaks Creole or has the
opportunity to
do so. But only a tiny minority of Haitians are fluent in French, why
shouldn't
all Haitians have the opportunity to learn French as well?
Here is an open question?
A parent has to choose between two schools. One teaching French as a
second
language, the othwer teaching Creole. Which school will get more students?
I do not think French or Creole is holding us up, but rather our
ignorance!
