about 20 years ago, a leading linguist (pa wotever moun) predicted that
slowly english would replace french as haiti's "official" language, however
unofficially this revolution at first unfolds.  it is already happening; there is a
growing sector of haitians, poor and rich alike, whose french is abominable but
who know more than a little english.  you gotta figure that many people in
haiti aspire for the children a prosperous life in the united states.  french is
useless to them.  so, the switch is from the language of the colon to the
neocolon; once again global economics dictates all, marx was so right.
