16162: Morse to Sen Dodd (fwd)
From: OLOFFSONRAM@aol.com
Dear Sen. Dodd,
Since my children will soon be residents in your wonderful State of Connecticut, and since I currently live in Haiti I thought i ought to mention that your comments to the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign relations were compassionate and heartfelt, yet your conclusions were either politically motivated or simply uninformed.
I remember sitting with you on the porch of the Oloffson during the Cedras years. There were no lights on in Port-au-Prince and the moths were flying into the candle providing light at our table. The same basic arguments I made to you that night criticizing the Cedras government are the same basic arguments that I would make to you criticizing this current Haitian government.
These are very difficult times. In a world of instant messaging and minute by minute news, responsible leadership is more important than ever.
Respectfully yours,
Richard Morse
