"Predators"? Just what are these foreigners poaching in Haiti? What riches
does Haiti possess that dictates such capitalistic greed in the US, France,
and "the international community as a whole" (does that include Lesotho?!?!?
Fiji?!?!?!). Perhaps I am not a "right-thinking" person, but I find Laleau's
argument to be very facile. Obviously, Haiti's woes derive largely from its
history of exploitation at the hands of foreigners, but is this any longer the
case really? It would seem that the whole debate surrounding reparations
indicates that Haitians realize that it is not... could it be that they are therefore
not "right-thnking" too?
Perhaps Laleau is referring to the free trade zone? Perhaps she cares to
suggest an alternative?
