Port Salud is indeed a beautiful place with friendly people and a white sand
beach.  Further to the west near Port-a-Piment are extraordinary caves in
which the Taino carved out dwellings. It is both a natural and historical
treasure, though somewhat difficult to reach when the river is up, as this makes road
travel very difficult. There is a committee of locals in Port-a-Piment who are
very interested in promoting ecotourism in the area. A road would be a first
step, no doubt.
