Could Paul Farmer run for president? Of Haiti? Of the U.S.? Governor of
California? I don't think he is necessarily a saint, but he is surely an
inordinately effective doctor and human being.  Is there some way we could
emulate his motivation and behavior to whatever extent possible,
ourselves???
I'll look for the book and hope somewhere inside it are some answers to
questions such as, "Paul--how do you do it?" "How can we do it?" "How can
anyone do it?" "How can we recognize people whose efforts stem from the
kind of
motivation you seem to have?" (Obviously I don't mean only in the medical
