BOOKS OF THE MONTH

School Superintendent Merrett R. Stierheim announced the school district's
Books of the Month for September, in conjunction with the Just Read
campaign.

The selections were chosen for young readers and their families, with the
theme being ``Back to School.''


• Multilingual Grades K-2 (Haitian-Creole): Jennjan Kontan by Joslin Twouyo.


PLANNING MEETINGS

Miami-Dade County Public Schools has scheduled a series of strategic
planning meetings this month and October to give residents an opportunity to
make input on the direction of the school district and to assess its goals
and objectives to ensure ongoing improvement in schools, support services
and business offices.

The meetings will be from 7 to 9 p.m.:

• Sept. 29, Miami Edison High, 6161 NW Fifth Ct., to be conducted in
Haitian-Creole.
