there is a shipwreck near the river mouth in the bay of jacmel that has its
place in local lore. from what i know, it was a late 19th century italian ship
called ALBANO. it would be interesting for someone to collect stories from the
locals about the ship, a large part of which is still exposed above the
water. kids fish from and jump off the thing.
because it looks like a large piston, and because the wave just to the west
breaks with mechanical precision, an american and a frenchman in the mid 1990s
named the surfbreak there "PISTONS".
