For Immediate Release

RADIANT & RESILIENT: Haitian Art Today, an EXHIBITION and SALE featuring
Haitian paintings, will be on display at the Cambridge Art Association,
University Place Gallery, 124 Mount Auburn Street, Cambridge, MA 02138,
October 2 - 30, 2003.
The gallery, located minutes from Harvard Square, is open Monday - Friday,
9am - 6pm, and Saturday, 9am - 1pm.
The OPENING RECEPTION, scheduled for Thursday, October 2, 2003, 6 - 8pm, is
free and open to the public. The art will be for sale at the opening
reception and for the duration of the exhibition.

Proceeds from the sale will benefit the construction of a new
learning/community center of the New Jerusalem Evangelical Baptist Church of
Dorchester. New Jerusalem serves the neighboring communities of first- and
second-generation immigrants who face the difficulties of redefining their
lives with limited social and economic opportunities in the midst of a harsh
inner city environment. An essential part of New Jerusalem's mission is to
provide support to children, adults, and seniors in the form of after-school
care, classes in computer skills, money management, language, and health
care.

Haitian art today was conceived by a group of concerned friends who saw art
as the best way to bring diverse communities together. Besides the
Cambridge Art Association exhibition, they have organized a series of
related events from October through December 2003. These include:

*** A seminar of the Art and Culture of Haiti (Saturday, October 18, 1 - 3pm
at the Cambridge Center for Adult Education, 56 Brattle Street, Cambridge
