16984: Corbett: Women's soccer in Haiti
>From Bob Corbett
Since we are on this issue of Haiti and soccer in the international world,
I would argue that Haiti would have a MUCH better chance of developing
consistently competitive international teams in women's soccer than men's.
I saw Haiti play in the qualifying games for the Women's World Cup, and
while clearly inferior to many other teams in the region (Caribbean,
Central and North American), they had some promise. The GAP between the
women's team and the men's team is much less significant in women's soccer
than men's in the international arena.
Thus were national soccer priorities being discussed, I would argue that
there is decent reason to put more emphasis on women's soccer than men's
are purely practical grounds.
