17369: (Chamberlain) Birds in Haiti (fwd)
From: Greg Chamberlain <GregChamberlain@compuserve.com>
My bird-watching friend sends this "add" to his earlier remarks:
> By far the best and most up-to-date field guide for Haiti is "A Guide to
the
Birds of the West Indies" by Herbert Raffaele, James Wiley, Orlando
Garrido,
Allan Keith and Janis Raffaele. It was published in 1998 by Princeton
University Press and should be available from Amazon.com and elsewhere for
less
than $50 (cloth). It covers all species that occur in Haiti with any
regularity, and has better-than-average color plates and detailed
descriptions
of each bird. It represents a significant improvement on the James Bond
guide,
which was for years the only field guide for the area.
