I went to look for this article. I couldn't access the article itself but I
was able to google the words Haitian  Plastics.  Turns out there is a
multinational company called Haitian (pronounce Hi-ten according to the website)
Plastics  in Ontario which seems to have originated in China.  I think Haiti must be
a Chinese word.
