I WOULD LIKE YOU TO MAKE THE FOLLOWING ANNOUNCEMENT TO THE LIST:

A course in "Haitian Folk Culture" is being offered at Florida International
University, Biscayne Bay campus.

This three credits course will give students an understanding of Haitian way
of life through storytelling and ethnic food preparation.  It will also
communicate the richness of traditional Haitian culture to the students.

The course is designed to increase people knowledge about Haiti.  It is an
undergraduate course but not limited to undergraduate students.  It can
accommodate those who want to effectively interact with Haitian immigrants.  The
course is also for those from the Diaspora world who came too young to remember.
In the Haitian-American community, the children of immigrants often grow up in
ignorance of their cultural heritage, rejecting their parents' language and
tradition.  It is specially recommended for teachers in the public school system
who will find a tool for interaction with students.  Overall, I want to
expose the students to folk life in Haiti and to specific characteristic about the
culture.
