17957: Harvey: Re: 17930: Haitian classical music (fwd)
From: Sean Harvey <seanharvey@juno.com>
One other neat recording of a Casseus composition is jazz legend Charlie
Rouse's recording of Casseus' Meci Bon Dieu, a movement from one of
Casseus' guitar compositions. I highly recommend it -- great
interpretation. This song is on Rouse's CD Bossa Nova Bacchanal, which is
widely available in the US and was an attempt by Rouse to cash in on the
bossa nova jazz craze that Stan Getz started and got rich off of. Rouse
was the tenor saxophonist for Thelonious Monk.
