18192: Ray: Software concerns for Haiti? (fwd)
From: Matt Ray <mraymus@yahoo.com>
All,
We are working on some technology things for Haiti and some of the guys on my team wanted to know if there were restrictions with donating software to Haiti or Haitian non profits. For example, I believe it's France who won't accept 128-bit encryption software, but we have to only donate 56-bit encryption.
Does anybody on the list know of a resource where we could get this information? Below is the conversation in case it might shed some light...

Is there a US Customs web site that has it? How about the Embassies? I
just know that I have seen Haiti listed
as one of those restricted countries( right up there with Lybia) for
security type software. I have been looking today
but I haven't found one yet. I just can't remember where I saw it. I
think the only problem we'll have is getting the stuff
out of the US. Then making sure it doesn't walk off at the airport in
Haiti. :) Who knows but we better find out.

I have no idea, nor do I know where to find this information. Do you?

Matt,
In preparation for the technological trip with HHH it will be good to
know if Haiti is on the list of countries that should have problems with
hardware and software that are donated to non-profit org.
