Following the success of his first CD, Ti Oma,
acclaimed by critics in Haiti and in the Diaspora, the
Mapou Cultural Center, Computer Bargain, the Haitian
Artists Assembly of Massachusetts, invite you to
attend Charlot Lucien’s second CD release in Miami,
“Ti Cyprien, doktè ya Bezwen”.

Charlot Lucien follows in the footsteps of Haitian
story tellers, Maurice Sixto, Jean Claude Martineau,
ringing to life scenes from Haiti’s social landscape,
while pointing out behaviors and attitudes that often
illustrate some of the profound contradictions among
Haiti’s social elites.

Charlot will be the special guest of the cultural
event Haiti Chante et Danse at Broward Library on
Saturday February 7, 2004.  The second CD release will
take place on Sunday February 8, at 5:00 PM at the
Library Mapou.  Special guests include writers Maude
Heurtelou Jan Mapou, Bob Lapierre and Max Manigat
commenting on story telling and the work of Maurice
Sixto; the event will feature traditional Haitian food
–“tchaka”, “labapen”- and live presentations by the
author.

Copies of the CD will be signed by the author -$12
copy.  We encourage you to attend and reserve in
advance limited signed copies for friends or
relatives.

Outline of the stories

The CD “Ti Cyprien, Doktè Ya Bezwen” features three
stories:
-Sonson Moun Fou, a tribute to mentally-challenged
Haitians who sometimes act more rationally than many
leaders and members of the elites, claims the author;
-Doktè Ya Bezwen, recounts the social maturation of
the young medical student from the Port-au-Prince
slums;
-Dyaspora Lang Poudre points out to some Haitians’
linguistic dilemma in the diaspora.
-Le Baptème de Capois La Mort, a fascinating tribute
to Haitian Hero Francois Capois.
