FIU set to begin lecture series
The Florida International University African-New World Studies department
will open its Spring 2004 Lecture Series, art showings and film festival on
Friday on the theme ``The Haitian Revolution and Its Impact on the African
Diaspora.''
The schedule includes:
• ''1804 -- Its Repercussions Worldwide,'' 3-6 p.m., Friday, Biscayne Bay
Campus, Kovens Center, Room 117. This Haitian Town Hall meeting is being
sponsored by Z-wave Radio 1320 AM and the Haitian Television Network.
• Katherine Dunham Lecture, 6:30 p.m., Feb. 24, Biscayne Bay Campus, Wolfe
Theatre, co-sponsored by INDAMI.
• ''Haitian Women: Honoring the Past, Embracing the Future'' Conference,
8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., March 5, Biscayne Bay Campus, Wolfe Center, co-sponsored
with Fanm Ayisyen Nan Miyami and the Undergraduate Studies division.
