Mr. McCalla,

	Re: Board Members of the Aristide Foundation for
Democracy.

In reference to your note, copied below for accuracy,
the following can be surmised:

1)	If some of the board members named on The Aristide
Foundation for Democracy (on the Aristide website),
are no longer active members of said foundation, than
they should request that their names be removed with
immediacy.  Whether or not the site is up-dated
regularly or not, the fact that the names remain is
what is relevant from our point of view as a Haitian
people.

2)	The responsibilities of all concerned at this
juncture require specificity and a clear moral
positioning.  Many are being murdered, falsely
arrested and denied their civil rights each day.   The
Constitutional inferences that secure order in any
progressive society are being discarded and abused. In
addition, Haiti is being squandered and sold to the
highest “foreign bidder, more than under any past
government.”  And, it is more than clear to us,
Haitians, that those foreign opportunists, financial
parasites, could not care less about what happens to
the people of Haiti, to the spirit of our culture and
the realization of our dreams, even though in their
countries, they are “philanthropists, fighting for the
poor.” Thus, the names of individuals on politically
inspired lists regarding Haiti, their personal agendas
and political intentions matter greatly to us.

3)	Haitians/Haitian-Americans take exception to the
condescending suggestion that such “important”
political figures simply forgot to remove their names
on a board that supports a specific political focus.

4)	It would be beneficial to all if those who no
longer take a stance with the Aristide Foundation for
Democracy remove their names and state when in fact
they had resigned, this to clear the record.

5)	Lastly, you are correct as to the need for
exactitude and the above step would certainly be a
start. We hope that you will give council to those you
are speaking of in your correspondence, “starting with
Congressman Barnes,” in ensuring that public records
reflect the correct positioning of those who lend
their names to political arenas.


In conclusion, Mr. McCalla, contrary to your
statement,
”more attention be paid to the relevance
of…information…being given,” please appreciate that we
take matters concerning our homeland quite gravely and
would not have distributed the listing otherwise.
And, it is, as well, for that same reason that we
question the motivation of those who allow their names
to remain for a foundation that they do not believe
in, nor respect enough to follow and update as to
accuracy.

Given that this information has been posted on the
site of the Aristide Foundation for some time and is
seriously outdated, certainly not through any fault of
the people listed as serving on the board of advisors,
I suggest that more attention be paid to the relevance
of this information at this time when rumors are wild,
blame is easily affixed here and there by partisans of
one or another faction.

The Aristide foundation for democracy has been
conspicuously absent from the democracy debate. It may
have been a good idea at its inception, but like many
initiatives sponsored by Mr. Aristide which faded away
once the initial goals were met (i.e. demonstrate the
breadth of support enjoyed by Mr. Aristide at the
time), it faded into the background... Many of the
people on the advisory board would not be caught dead
standing beside Mr. Aristide, starting with
Congressman Barnes... But in the age of the internet,
once posted no information ever dies... it just fades
away, until google fetches it from its archives. Let's
have real debates about Haiti’s political development
and its future, not sniping...
