18650: Keesey: Re: 18633: Saint-Vil warns CIA on Killing Spree in Haiti AGAIN!!! (fwd)
From: Christopher Keesey <tanbou1@yahoo.com>
I would never propose to refute documented CIA
involvement in Haiti. But, given the recent state of
affairs in Haiti and US foreign policy I can't believe
there is truly any real high-reaching Washinton based
"engineering" of the uprisings in Haiti. If so, what
is in it for the Bush adminisration?
Any event in Haiti produces a lose/lose situation for
the Bush admininstration. To not get involved is to
appear apathetic towards a human rights crisis. To
send in US security forces is to worsen an already
shakey invasionary image of the US in foreign circles.
Any influx of refugees onto US shores from said
situation which is what prompted Clinton's involvement
offers similar lose/lose scenarios for Bush at this a
very delicate time given the coming elections.
I also have a difficult time believing that all reigns
on the US intelligence community, including agents
throughout the Caribbean and the DR haven't been
tightened a bit in the last several months given the
recent revelations of misinformation in the Iraq
theatre.
I pose this perhaps as more of a question than a
rebuttal statement and ask with all due respect that
if there are to be allegations of direct CIA and
Administration involvement that those making such
statements also address what could possibly in it for
Washington and the Bush administation to see the
escalation of such a tragic crisis in Haiti.
