I already wrote to my senator (Mike DeWine of Ohio who has been to Haiti
many times). Anybody can easily do the same by going to their senator's or
representative website. There is usually a "contact" icon you click on and
you write the letter. They also give you a regular address to write to.
If the Bush administration does anything in Haiti, it will be half hearted
window dressing attempt to show that they are doing something in an election
year. Once media attention has died down they will quietly get out for some
lame reason or false achievement just like the Clintons did. BUSH SHOULD
LET THE FRENCH HANDLE THIS. The French are dying to show the Americans how
things should be done (in contrast to Iraq). Just think of all the effort
they will put into it. Plus they will be trying to make Haitians forget
about the "restitution" song Aristide has been singing all these years by
investing into the country. This would be a very ironic bicentenial year
but there are no good options out there.. France looks good internationally,
they make Bush look good domestically (mot Americans want him to focus on
their economy), and those guys can kiss and make up.
