19370: Vishnusurf: Re: 19360: Lemiex:BBC: Haiti rebels close in on capital (fwd)

From: VISHNUSURF@aol.com

meanwhile, ABC is reporting that mirebalais is "about 40 miles southeast of
the capital, Port-au-Prince"... how reliable is the news we are devouring,
folks? unless the rebels have moved mirebalais, i think this serves as a prime
example of why to take in all of this abundance of ink with a critical eye.

and what ever happened to the students? why has their voice been relatively
ignored by the international press? we get lots of sound bites from the armed
resistance, along with descriptions of the water in the morn joli swimming pool
and what guy phillipe is having for lunch and what kinds of exploitation the
apaid family has exacted upon the poor, but what about the students? if there
is anyone in haiti whom i would like to hear from right now (besides my
friends in hiding of whom i have no recent news), it is the university students.
