MONTREAL (AFP) - Hundreds of Haitian protesters demanded that Haitian President
Jean Bertrand Aristide resign.
"Too much blood spilled means Aristide must leave," protesters chanted in
Creole.
"As president, he should understand that he must quit for the good of the
people," demonstrator Marie Laurence Laroche said.
Many protesters carried the Haitian flag and placards that said "Arisitde (is
a) criminal" or "SOS international community -- Haiti in danger."
"The whole world will see that we Haitians seek Aristide's departure,"
protester Reguste Gerald said.
Haitian-born singer Luck Mervil joined the crowd assembled outside a Canadian
government building, along with local politicians.
Saturday's demonstration was the third against Aristide in Montreal since
December.
Between 80,000 and 100,000 Haitians live in Quebec, mostly around Montreal.
