19777: Goodman: Re: 19753: (Chamberlain) Haiti rebel chief says disarming his forces (later story) (fwd)
From: Brian Goodman <bdgoody2002@yahoo.com>
Wow isn't this a shocker! After it took France and the US to intervene...the worse of the rebellion seems to be passing. If the US marines weren't there, there would be a lot of dead people in the terminal of the Airport. Who was going to stop the rebels from entering the airport if the Marines hadn't stopped them....the National Police? No way, they are with the rebels now. It is time to stop looking back at 200 years of violence and move forward. Haiti wasn't once called "The Peril of the Carribean" for nothing. It is the most beautiful country that I have ever been to. Haiti can and WILL prosper without Aristede and his thugs running the country. What gets me is that people complain when the US doesn't help and then they complain when we help. It's kind of like Doug and Wendy Whiner from the Old Saturday night Live TV shows in the 70's. Be thankful that Aristeded didn't scare off Haiti's friends. When a friend is in trouble, you need to help your friend. Regardless
of what our forefathers did in the past, Haiti has a friend in the US and Canada. If these countries did not care about haiti's innocent lives, the rebels would have burned every governement building in Haiti and killed even more people.
