 Lawless's plot is too simplistic, that's why no one would buy it.  Enough
 already with the little guy who achieves all this wealth and personal
 power while remaining good and pure.  Make it real, bring on the drug
 connections, a good rice scandal, some kind of pyramid scheme, lots of
 political assassinations, students and demonstrators getting their heads
 bashed in, lots of corruption, weapons and violence, and watch Holywood
 perk up.  And don't forget to bring out the sex and voodoo angles...
