The African Union did the right thing to condemn the overthrow of President
Aristide.  Support from the Motherland for the beleaguered Haitian president is
especially befitting.   What might be even more appropriate is for the
African Union to gather a force to restore the Aristide administration to its
rightful place in Haiti.

While I can't support foreign troops in Haiti from former colonizers or
oppressors, a military force made up of Africans to help restore democracy in Haiti
may be justified.  At least, the Haitian people would be spared the racism
and unwanted political baggage which American and European troop (and their
handlers) will inevitably bring.  Yes, why not?  Rather than the USA/UN propping
up an unconstitutional government, let the AU help restore the legitimate
government of President Aristide.
