To understand Chavannes Jean-Baptiste better: he is quoted by Andrew
Gumbel writing in 'The Independent' (On February 21, 2004 under the
colorful headline "The Little Priest Who Became a Bloody Dictator like
the One He Once Despised") as having said: "[Aristide is] nothing but
a political cadaver who will pass like garbage through the history of
Haiti". Why is Jean-Baptiste using such rather offensive language?
Does it further the cause of the Haitian peasantry? It is rather
puzzling to see people in the political arena not being able to
excersise a modicum of self restraint when talking to the press. I am
sure Mr. Jean-Baptiste would have protested in the strongest terms
possible if such a telling quote would have been falsely attributed
to him. If he didn't, it goes to show his disrespect for the Haitian
people that elected Jean-Bertrand Aristide into office and that are
conceivably incensed.

There was an error in 19946, Carol J. Williams' article forwarded by Dr.
David Lewis, claiming a fellow named Franckel Jeanrisca was "head" of
MPP.
I received confirmation from Chavannes Jean Baptiste that this was an
error
(Carol Williams has not replied to three queries.).
"It is a confusion because Frankel Jeanrisca is a leader of a peasant
organisation in Kenskoff up Petionville. He is also the general
secretary
of MPNKP. He is the delegate of MPNKP at the group of 184. I continue
to
be the executive Director of MPP and the national spokesperson for
MPNKP,
also the national program coordinator of MPNKP. "
