"the stakes are high"?!?!?!? gee, koffi, thanks for pointing that out to us.
it is nice to see that annan has matured in his understanding of the world,
as he surely did not realize how high the stakes were in rwanda when the UN
allowed the genocide to occur, or when 7,000 muslims were practically escorted
to slaughter by the UN in bosnia.
indeed, the stakes are high... and so will be the salaries that UN employees
are going to rake in over the next "10 years at least." 10 years ago, a UN
"human rights observer" (creole fluency optional) could earn US$6,000 a month,
though they were prohibited from transporting sick and/or wounded people to
medical facilities even if their US$40,000 Nissan Patrols were empty. is it
possible not to think of the UN as just another "gran manje"?
