".....Since president Aristide had left the country, there are unconfirmed
reports of mass killings going on in Haiti. Contrary to the period of the 1991
coup, they have now body bags to collect the corpses the day after the carnage
therefore destroying any evidence of crime being committed Many people said
that at night armed gunmen would fly on helicopter over some populated and poor
area known to be the stronghold of the party fanmi lavalas such as Bel Air,
Cite Soleil, St. Marc, etc., they would shoot up something on the air to light
up the area and when the people come out to see what's going on, they would
indiscriminately shoot at them with automatic weapons. Whether it is true or not,
it will be very difficult to confirm this information due to the climate of
fear and intimidation established now in Haiti and the limited level of
education of the targeted victims in Haiti. The discovery of Haitian bodies
presumabely of those who were former partisans of Jean Bertrand Aristide in a
container at Cap Haitian is not a story reported by the western mainstream media.
Other sectors are poised to dismiss it as unfounded due to the absence of
eyewitnesses. Already many Haitians residing in New York are saying they are not
going to retire in Haiti and they fear that the forces of occupation will remain
in the country for at least two decades if not for ever. Some of them think
that they could have a genocidal or a cleansing mission, others reflect over the
fact that the country is divided like a piece of cake with the North under
the control of the French, the West for the Americans and the South for the
Canadians. Over all many Haitians living in New York are very distressed and
unhappy about this latest coup in Haiti. They are also very frustrated about the
lies spread by the mainstream media concerning Haiti and President Atistide.
Finally, give me the name and the phone number of this lawyer so that I could
pass this information to the general population."
