I would have thought that the words 'in a hostile area near the city's
port' would indicate that it was in Cite Soleil or near there.

However there are many new blocks of apts. built around Port-au-Prince.
Friends of mine have 10 blocks all around PauP - even out to Martissant.
The most central one is down near the Commissariat in the Canapé Vert
block.
