Transitional Prime Minister threatens to exclude Fanmi Lavalas from the
CEP

Port-au-Prince, April 15, 2004 -(AHP)- Transitional Prime Minister
Gérard Latortue reaffirmed Thursday his government's intention to
organize good elections in the country.

Gérard Latortue announced the formation of the new Provisionary
Electoral Council soon, and threatened to exclude the Fanmi Lavalas
party from the electoral process if the political organization
doesn't name its representative before next week. This threat was
written in a letter given this Thursday by the provisional prime
minister to Fanmi Lavalas leaders.

Transitional government's Minister without portfolio Robert Ulysse,
who made the announcement, declared that the measure to replace the
party Fanmi Lavalas will be done in accordance to the clauses of the
initial agreement.

Fanmi Lavalas had called the interim authorities to put an end to the
persecutions against leaders and supporters of the political
organization before inviting it to name its representative for the
CEP.
