Haitian Inspiration: Sequins and Beads Speak of Spirits is in the auditorium
and Lights of the Haitian Fanal, Contemporary Interpretations of Tradition
and Technique is in the second floor exhibition space of the Main Library,
101 W. Flagler St., Miami, through May 29. Also at the Main Library's Lobby
Gallery: Toussaint L'Ouverture: A Story of Freedom in Words and Images is up
through Dec. 15. Hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Saturday except for
Thursday, 9 a.m.-9 p.m. and 1-5 p.m. Sunday. Free. Call 305-375-2665.
The Main Library exhibits are part of series of programs the Miami-Dade
Public Library System has organized in honor of Haitian Heritage Month,
which recognizes the anniversary of the birth of Gen. Toussaint L'Ouverture
on May 20, 1743, and the creation of the official Haitian flag on May 18,
1803. This year marks the 200th anniversary of Haitian independence.

Haitian Inspiration: Soaring Steel Sculptures, with art by Georges Liautaud,
Serge Jolimeau, and Gabriel Bien-Aimé, at West Kendall Regional, 10201

Haitian Inspiration: The Voices of Haiti, with banners and sculpture by
Edouard Duval-Carrié and objects from the collection of Jude ''Papaloko''
Thegenius, at Lemon City Branch, 430 NE 61st St., Miami, and Little River
