21843: Vedrine: RE: 21781: Nlbo: Saturday's Boston Haitian community dialogue (fwd)

I guess all those people who attended it were very happy to attend it. I was
expected to see more people, more professionals. It's about time that
HAITIANS get together to work toward Haiti's development & future. The
workshop was great. It's important to videotape these types activities in
order to document them. That would be very helpful to conduct more seminars
for more groups and to help them organizing themselves. The solutions of
Haiti's problems are in the hands of Haitians themselves. So, it's up to
themselves to organize themselves to change Haiti's dirty images instead of
fighting each other and invite 'blan mannan' to occupy the country (the
latest result). War is ugly. Peace is and togetherness are beautiful. These
sort of organizations /grouping should take place throughout the Diaspora
where these same ideas (for the development of Haiti) can be shared and
people can have a common goal. One of the things that divide Haitians is
POLITICS and most Haitians suffer from the PRESIDENTIAL SICKNESS (tout moun
vle prezidan /eveyone wants to be president). if I belong to this political
party, I can't work with you, I have to fight you, I have to be your enemy.
The reason why people think like that is because they don't have a COMMON
GOAL (which is seeing a COUNTRY, working together to do the maximum for a
COUNTRY). It is true that different political parties may have different
agendas, don't agree on certain issues, but there must be some MEETING
POINTS when it comes to do something for the country at-large, when it comes
to see the problems of the country and see what can be done COLLECTIVELY.
Many times, many people in Haiti say POLITICS is a dirty thing (due to what
they’ve been experiencing). Good POLITICS also exists. In BAD Politics,
they see: hatred, mistrust, fight for power & killing each other,
selfishness, corruption, mediocrity, not opened to critics, dictatorship and
destruction at all levels.
