A company of sixteen Haitian musicians, dancers and singers, with RaRa horns
and Petro drums alongside rhythm and bass guitars, create a show that beckons
the audience to follow on a journey to another culture.
We travel back in time to the traditions, customs and beliefs that
accompanied their forefathers on that first journey from West Africa...to 1804 when the
slaves overthrew their colonial masters to make their country the world’s
first black republic...to Haiti’s brief moment as the Caribbean’s smartest
destination back in the ‘fifties. And to a country where its art and music grow from
a religion which is as old as human life itself.
RAM recreates the mystical world of Haiti that very few of us see – where the
spirits are all around us, influencing every decision we take in our lives;
where there is a parallel world just as real as our own.
This world will be evoked through Ram’s inimitable sound, along with carnival
costumes, a film scape and amazing special effects – to create a spectacular
production that will thrill audiences.
