22430: Antoine: Marx-Vilaire Aristide, list member, dies in car accident
From: Guy S. Antoine <guyantoine@haitiforever.com>
Bob, just about the time that I received this excellent
response from Marx-Vilaire Aristide, Sunday morning, he was leaving
this world, after a car accident in which he sustained
terrible injuries, Saturday evening.
I am sure that much will be written about Marx in the next
few days, because he accomplished so very much in his short
life. He will surely be missed on the Corbett List, where he was a
sane voice in a forum that has gotten increasingly strident
over the years. His last few exchanges on an alternative to a
sweat shop economy in Haiti spoke well of his genuine concern for
the people of Haiti.
I met Marx both in Washington, DC and in Haiti, where we
spent a few hours together, discussing his ideas for
projects that would lend to a renewal of Haiti's economic prospects
and what needed to be done for a brain drain reversal. I
was duly impressed with his intellect, his patriotism, and his
genuine humanity. Marx-Vilaire will be sorely missed.
Only the good die young, it seems.
Peace, Marx!
