As an appreciator of a number of your earlier Corbett posts, I would like to
ask you this about your above-cited (and I'm sure well-intentioned) statement.


Have you not left out some very important events / facts?

- That whatever "supposedly" free elections might occur in the future, they
will be overseen by un-elected leaders? And by an International Community which
has helped to sponsor the "undoing" of 2 of the Haitian Electorate's 3
earlier electoral choices?

- That those who are the current "acceptable-to-the-US-Canada-France-IMF-WB"
crew of Haitian leaders "sit on the throne", NOT as a result of free
elections, BUT because:

(1) they were extra-judicially selected by "higher ups" outside of Haiti, in
collusion with "higher ups" inside Haiti; and

(2) a "coup-d'état" -- called by another name ("deliverance") -- was
facilitated by means of the empowerment, training, equipping and insertion back into
Haiti "at just the right moment" by the above-mentioned "superpowers without
borders" of thugs like Philippe, Chamblain et al.?

- That EXACTLY BECAUSE the first freely-elected (and eventually
Constitutionally re-elected) leader of Haiti could be so unceremoniously and
unconstitutionally "unseated" TWICE by extra-territorial forces outside of Haiti, in
collusion with extra-Constitutional interests inside Haiti:

HAITI'S MASSES have no real incentive to fully participate in this next round
of "supposedly free" elections?


Who ever cared about what THEY thought?

- The ones who took the physical and social-ostracism risk to even dare to
ALREADY have officially and democratically registered their electoral opinions
THREE TIMES???

[With "coups-d'état" sandwiched IN BETWEEN Votes #1 and #3? And AFTER #3?]

- The ones who stuck their necks out all along the way to "play by
Constitutional Rules"? Like testifying before Judicial Inquiries and Proceedings? And
paying their taxes? And paying for services which should have been provided for
free by a Constitutionally-mandated Federal Government?

[Only now to be hunted down like dogs and summarily executed by Philippe's
thugs? While Chamblain et al. are officially, judicially exonerated and showered
with champagne?]


The Haitian Masses have gone through a lot over the past 200+ years.

But most especially over the past 20+ years of "supposed" Democracy.

[I mean, which is worse: As a slave in Colonial Haiti, being forced by slave
masters to dig a hole, then being forced to stand in that hole, then having
the hole filled back up with dirt -- right up to your neck, then having honey
poured over your exposed head, and then having ants eat your flesh right off
your skull bone OR as a citizen of a New Democracy, daring to finally speak up,
and then be hunted down after a coup d'état by extra-judicial,
extra-territorial anti-Democracy Haitian thugs, have your hands tied behind your back, have
your tongue cut out, and then be burned to death?]


The "lot" of the Haitian Masses is a lot more complex and they are a lot more
intelligent than that for which they are given credit.

What's been going on over the past 200+ years has nothing to do with their
intelligence.

It has everything to do with the brute power of others unfairly exercised
against them.


But, guess what?

The Haitian masses may have been denied the right to properly learn how to
read and write the language created and then passed down orally to them by their
ancestors, BUT they are not stupid!


In fact, I would propose this:

- Their eyes are wide open!

- They understand their inate rights as human beings.

- They believe in a God who is higher up the chain of command than the United
States of America!

- They will NOT be dupes EITHER to the voracious appetites of the
International Community OR their "insider Haitian cohorts / consorts", who wish to "mine
Haiti dry" of all her natural resources (WITHOUT the Nation's Treasury or the
Haitian Masses benefitting a penny!) and then cynically divvying up between
themselves the profits!

- They will NOT be dupes EITHER to the voracious appetite of the United
States of America which has "lusted after" Môle St. Nicolas [MSN; the deepest
natural harbor in the region; even surpassing its decrepit (time is running out;
overly toxic, thanks to the good old USofA Military's disrespect for ecology)
neighbor: Guantanamo] since the 1700-1800s OR their "insider Haitian cohorts /
consorts", who have wished to deliver MSN to the good old USofA since the very
beginning -- for a hefty deposit into the personal bank account, of course!


The Haitian Masses will do whatever they think they must do in order to
saboutage the "lusts" of those who attempt to unconstitutionally "lord over them"
or "rob them blind / wholesale".

They'll "get along" when they must!

They'll "rise up" when they must!


It's up to Massa and his "for-centuries-embedded" House Slaves (who evolved
into Haiti's current Business and Economic Elite) to try to figure out WHAT
Haiti's "for-centuries-embedded" Field Slaves will do WHEN and UNDER WHAT
CIRCUMSTANCES!


The Haitian Masses won something 200 years ago!

And they're not going to "hand it all over" NOW -- just because:

- More powerful folks (extra-territorially or in-house) say: "Jump"!

OR

- Haiti's current ruling class is more than willing to sing the
"Marseillaise" or "God Bless America" as its National Anthem, in exchange for a little
direct deposit to their individual Swiss Bank Accounts, thank you!

OR

- Simon (extra-territorially or in-house) finally says: "Please"!


EVEN IF THE SIMONS OF THIS WORLD ARE CARRYING UZIS OR MOBILE MISSILE
LAUNCHERS OR HAND GRENADES, INSTEAD OF 18TH CENTURY MUZZLE-LOADED RIFLES!


- The Haitian Masses understand their stewardship. Of the land. Of their
historical legacy.

- They understand the sacrificial contribution of their ancestors.

AND

- They certainly understand their own sacrificial contribution in recent
years for this "Democratic" Social Experiment!


They will fight to the death, just as their ancestors did!

This time: to save their hard-earned "little patches of green turned brown
turned rock turned crap".

In other words: Ayiti Toma!

For better or for worse!


That's why they are NOT soooo exercised about "missing the 200th Anniversary
Date" of their "alleged" Independence, already sullied by the International
Community.

Haiti's Masses are MUCH MORE exercised / exorcized about "letting down the
ancestors"!


In the spirit of the Cable TV Soprano Mafia Family and Al Franken's September
2nd "Shout-out Against George W. Bush":

The Haitian Masses have been saying all this past year: "Fuggedaboud" the
Julian calendar!


- Did the ancestors know the day of the week, let alone the month, let alone
the year of WHEN they "had had enough" 200+ years ago??? And then took
action???

- Did the ancestors know the day of the week, let alone the month, let alone
the year of WHEN they began to create the Haitian Creole language???

They did WHAT they had to do WHEN they had to do it. Regardless of HOW the
rest of the world was keeping time!


What matters in the long-term, folks, is:

- WHAT survives.

AND

- HOW one gets to that special moment in life of knowing that one has
RIGHTFULLY EARNED (not usurped) what is in one's hands! However meager!

AND

- WHO most sacrificially is willing to oversee the stewardship of a plot of
land the "lusters" no longer want! Having already taken all that they think is
there!


The Biblical Book of Ruth presents the beautiful picture of the "gleaners".

The ones who are entitled by moral law to "pick up the pieces".

AFTER, the "powerful ones" trample their way through the harvest. And then
move on to chase after the next "windfall harvest".


Maybe, just maybe, that's what Haiti really is all about.

Somewhat like how ingenious indigenous metal workers turn discarded Coke cans
into works of Haitian art!


Perhaps we'll only really see the true Haiti once the usurpers
(extra-territorial and internal) have moved on to chase after the next "windfall profit".

Perhaps THEN Haiti's Masses will be allowed to turn a "pig's ear into a silk
purse"! (American Proverb)

UNFORTUNATELY, only AFTER it's desecrated; only AFTER it has no perceived
commercial value left whatsoever!


I personally believe that's WHEN Haiti and Haitians still willing to call
themselves Haitians will eventually mine the real gold of Haiti.

A gold which is not material. Not mineral. A gold which cannot yet be seen.
But it's there. For those who hold out to the end. And do their part along the
way when they can.

It has to do with character. And ethics. And patience. And sacrifice. And
loss. And honor. And true patriotism. And faith.

- Faith in a God more powerful than George W. Bush and Jacques Chirac and Guy
Philippe and Andre Apaid, Jr.!

AS WELL AS:

- Faith in themselves, as a very creative, very resilient, very purposeful,
very patient and long-suffering People. Fully deserving of their moment in the
sun!
