Another journalist under threat

A Haitian radio journalist who was shot in the hand by unknown attackers on 4
February has had to move with his family to a different house because he
fears for his life.

Raoul Saint-Louis, co-host of a commentary show on private Megastar radio,
said he, his wife and a colleague were outside his station when he felt a bullet
zip past his head. A second bullet struck his left hand. . He had earlier
received death threats over the phone after criticising interim Prime Minister
Gerard Latortue’s government for not doing enough to help the poor and failing
to crack down on corruption. The attack came three weeks after radio reporter
Abdias Jean was shot and killed while covering a police raid in a slum in
Port-au-Prince. Rights activists claimed police killed Jean after he witnesses them
shooting two other people. Police say they are investigating.
