24429: Durban (reply) to Kondrat (24413) on Esser/Morse (fwd)

From: Lance Durban <lpdurban@yahoo.com>

Kondrat makes a good point (Corbett #24413) about Aristide's
legitimacy as President, which probably was at least as solid a
that of President Bush after the 2000 election in the States.
Kondrat might have added that if poetic justice plays a role,
Prime Minister Latortue may one day find himself in a Haitian
prison, unconvicted of anything, yet vaguely accused in the
unfortunate deaths of some "peaceful protestors" by the National
Police this past Monday. Hey, stranger things have happened!

That said, Aristide is out, and the country needs to be looking
forward, not backward. For the moment PM Latortue with solid UN
backing seems to me the best hope on the horizon. Esser and
friends are hardly being helpful in trying to turn back the
clock.
