A Cape Verdean musician, Joao Mendes, referred me to a book by scholar Diop.He charges that the "fine African nose" of the Sphinx was deliberatelyblown off to hide it's distinctly Black African character. I forget bywhich group, but (being Irish) my first suspect is the British :-). kathleen
