*About the book* : /Leaders of Haiti : 1804-2001. Historical
Overview/, Educa Vision 2005
Living in an organized and rich society, numerous second and third
generation Haitian-Americans have no real sense of the struggles their
ancestors had gone through. They do not realize the hopes and
expectations that presided over the creation of Haiti, that unique
sanctuary of Black freedom in the Americas. This book is a contribution
to a better knowledge of what Haiti represents, even if the results of
two hundred years of constant fighting for survival do not amount to
economic success.
*About the author*:
/Max Manigat spent a career in education. He taught at the CollÃge
Saint-Pierre in Port-au-Prince, at the AthÃnÃes (High Schools) of Kenge,
Butembo and Bukavu, Democratic Republic of Congo, and for twenty-three
years at The City College of the City University of New York (CUNY)./
