Though I grew up in the area and lived also on" Rue Capois" by the Oloffson,
I first visited it in April 1996 when touring parts of Haiti. That was the
first time I saw Morse playing with his band and then Manno Charlemagne
(mayor of P-au-P at that time) was also playing. A great place for artists
and tourists to be. We (the group I was with) had such a fine dinner (really
great Creole food!). Everything was fine and we felt secured (with all the
armed guards in the court yard). This hotel has a lot of history behind it
besides its apperance in "The Comedians / Les Comediens", one of Green's
novels and Morse should do his very best to preserve this historical
landmark.
